Overpriced, mixed bag as far as flavors and quality, with a little bit of (not great) attitude. Tried specials, one good, one meh. Regular dishes were same result. Pan con Tomate was burnt. Deviled eggs were delightful actually. As were the mushroom with egg dish. Others again mixed bag. But our server, while nice, was a little awkward albeit new. It’s ok. His trainer came with unfriendly attitude. There are other places.

Fantastic Resturant all around. Celebrated my son’s graduation from residency in Portland. The appetizers and dinner was absolutely delicious and the service and intimate vibe was perfect too.

Food is awesome and delicious, wine pairing, cocktails, mocktails are superb! Staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. If you want a break from lobster roll and endless seafood, Chaval offers a whole different dimension with their use of Spanish spices and French culinary skills!

I enjoyed the tavern style lighting. The staff is really cheerful and friendly, which is appreciated. The menu is more complex than average. The food is rich with game options and local seasonal components. I found the items to be an interesting fusion of Spanish, French, Italian, and English fare. Hospitality is excellent, enthusiastic and knowledgeable, very team oriented as we were served and assisted by a number of folks. We enjoyed a drink on the special menu to start, and my guest also had a glass of Italian Cabernet that was very well rounded. The dining spaces are narrow but comfortable. The noise level was cheerfully grande, which made it difficult to catch all the details but added an element of confidentiality to the conversation. It was a fine dining experience in Portland, Maine and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a well above average meal!

The service was very good and the ambiance was nice. The food was mediocre and severely overpriced. The barnacles cost $19, you get like 6-7 of them, they have the tiniest amount of meat, and are completely flavourless. The devilled egg is $9 for one egg. I might have shrugged and carried on, if not for the mandatory “kitchen wellness fee.” Maybe we just ordered badly because some of the pictures in other reviews look nice. A lot of those pictures were more than 1 year old, so maybe there were changes?
